Car Culture

I dated a boy once who thought he was a man. He had an eight track player and a 1970 Challenger. He worked at the local pizza place and let me drive it once in the parking lot after work. He eventually traded me in for an older girl with a faster car, or maybe that was a faster girl with an older car. Men and boys and cars.

Car culture evolved from a project I began in 2006 on the Etown Racers a car gang from my hometown. Most of whom I have known since kindergarten. Some of that work can be seen in Rides magazine.I have spent weekends cruising the alleys and garages, even one day being picked up at my mother’s house by one of the Etown racers. Maybe that’s what it is about old fast cars, you can step back in time to a past life when cute boys picked you up at your mother's house and life wasn’t so complicated and gas was a whole lot cheaper.
