HUCK

HUCK MAGAZINE

When I began my photo career I was known as an “adventure shooter”, this wasn’t intentional but how I was seen and hired because of my personal project on rodeos at the time. I know a lot more about horses then I do rock climbing, I did learn a thing or two on this great assignment for Huck magazine. Thanks to Kathy Karlo for sharing her story and Niall Flynn for the opportunity to photograph this fun adventure piece on Kathy and “The Red”. I had no idea that one of the best climbing destinations was in my own backyard in Kentucky’s Red River Gorge.

"Thanks for being a dream to work with"

“The Red, a place where the unity that she believes best characterizes climbing is as clear to see as anywhere. “It feels like a hiding place, like you’re carrying this little secret around with you,” she says. “I have a lot of friends who have literally moved to Kentucky for the climbing.”
